Canoe Rental The Hague provides you with a unique opportunity to enjoy the city and its beautiful surroundings from its many waters. Paddle through the historic center with its distinctive old and modern architecture and many bridges, or take a trip to one of the rural areas!

Along the extensive water network there are numerous places where you can moore your canoe and take a break. You can bring your own provisions and have a picnic on a beautiful shore! Alternatively The Hague offers a wide choice of cafes and restaurants for lunch, dinner or a good glass of wine.

The routes

It can be very exciting to find your own way trough the canals and to get surprised by what you encounter! But for those who prefer a more guided take to the waters, we have mapped out six routes of different length and duration below, each with its own distinct character. Because not everyone has the same speed, the times indicated are an approximation. The indicated distance is that of the total round trip.

Follow the Dunne Bierkade past the former studio of Paulus Potter, and past the house where Spinoza wrote his Ethica, to the Palace Garden and the Royal Stables on the Mauritskade. Via the Hooikade at the back of the Denneweg the tour continues via the Princessegracht past the Royal Art Academy and the recently built ministries via the Uilenbomen back to the historic harbour and Passantenhaven on the Bierkade.

Clingendael

Clingendael refers to the valley between the dunes (clinge). The estate is mentioned as early as the 16th century. The combination of culture and nature makes it a pleasant spot for young and old. You will find beautiful buildings and gardens with impressive groups of trees and reflective water features. The garden art of 1818 is still visible in the estate. The most famous part of Clingendael is the Japanese garden which can be observed well from the the water. The beautiful and rare trees and plants are very fragile, so mooring here is not allowed. Instead, you can moore at the adjacent tearoom.

Binckhorst

If you prefer to make somewhat longer strokes, the route to the Binckhorst is an option. This route consists of more open water, is more sensitive to wind, but has no short bends or low bridges. Follow the Zieken and the Pletterijkade to the Haagse Trekvliet in the direction of Binckhorst. Here you can visit the former Caballero factory (now a collective business building) and the De Compaan beer brewery.

A combination of wider water, houseboats and romantic vistas! Follow the Zieken and the Pletterijkade to the Verheeskade and Calandkade. In the Laakkanaal you take the exit along the Moerweg just before the Zuiderpark. Here you will find surprisingly romantic waters with unsuspected houseboats. Via the Strijp Wetering and the Reijnerwatering you turn right to the Sion and from there you will enter the Vliet. You take this in the direction of The Hague, where you navigate back to the Center via the Binckhorst. You can also extend this route with a visit to Delft.

Opening hours

In April and October we are open in the weekends only, from 11 am to 6 pm (latest departure 4 pm). In these months we open on others for groups over 10 persons only, in that case please contact us by email or phone!

In May we are open on Wednessday through Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm (latest departure 4 pm).

In June, July, August and September we are open on Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm (latest departure 6 pm). In this period we are open on Mondays for groups over 10 persons only. Out of season it is also possible to rent canoes when the weather allows for it: please contact us by email or phone!

Location
Canoe Rental The Hague is located in the heart of the city near the historic ship the 'St. Rafaël'. It is easy to get in and out via a floating landing stage which you will find at a five-minute walk from Den Haag Hollands Spoor train station or a ten-minute walk from Den Haag Central train station. In addition, several trams and buses stop nearby. Canoe Rental The Hague is also easily accessible by bicycle and car. Bicycles can be parked on the nearby Wagenbrug, paid parking applies for cars.

Good Weather Guarantee
We ask groups over ten persons to transfer the rental fee in advance. The Good Weather Guarantee automatically applies to these groups, which means that the reservation can be canceled in bad weather. We will then refund the amount, after deduction of € 25 administration costs.

Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions Version 1-07-2020

These conditions apply to the rental of canoes of Kanoverhuur Den Haag (Canoe Rental The Hague). The purpose of these terms and conditions is to clarify the rights and obligations of the lessor and the renter.

Concepts
1. The lessor is Kanoverhuur Den Haag.
2. The renter is a person or organization that rents a canoe or several canoes from the lessor.
3. By rental canoe is understood the vessel that is rented out to the renter.
4. The canoeing area concerns the area where the renter is allowed to ride the rental canoe.

Age, canoeing skills and life jackets
1. The lessor applies a minimum age for renters of 18 years. You may be asked for identification.
2. The renter must have sufficient canoeing skills. The lessor has the right to refuse potential renter under this article.
3. The lessor will provide life jackets to all persons on board if the renter requests this.

Children and pets
1. Children up to the age of 16 may only use canoe under the supervision of (one of) the parent (s) or another authorized supervisor.
2. Children are and remain at all times the responsibility of the parent or supervisor. Kanoverhuur Den Haag does not accept any liability. Kanoverhuur Den Haag provides children's life jackets.
3. It is allowed to bring pets on board though Kanoverhuur Den Haag does not accept any liability for them.

Reservations, payment and cancellation
1. The renter can reserve boats with the lessor. The reservation is final as soon as the renter has received a confirmation by e-mail confirming the departure day, the time and the number and type of canoes from the lessor.
2. The renter must pay the rental fee by bank, cash or PIN before the start of the rental period.
3. If the renter does not collect the canoe at the agreed time and has not informed the lessor about this delay by telephone, the lessor has the right to rent out the reserved canoes to other parties after 30 minutes.
4. If the renter does not return the rental canoe at the agreed time, the lessor has the right to increase the rental fee proportionally as well as to charge any costs of consequential damage to the renter.
5. For groups smaller than 10 persons, the reservation can be canceled free of charge up to 3 hours in advance.
6. Kanoverhuur Den Haag offers groups over 10 persons the option of taking out a 'Good Weather Guarantee'. This means that for € 25, you can cancel by telephone and / or e-mail up to three hours before departure, provided that all fees have been paid in accordance with the rental of the relevant canoes and hours.
7. The lessor can cancel the reservation due to (extreme) weather conditions. The lessor will contact the renter before the start of the rental period. In this case, there is force majeure and no cancellation costs will be charged.

Canoeing, rules of conduct and canoeing area
1. The renter must use the rental canoe with due diligence and in accordance with its purpose.
2. The tenant must adhere to the Binnenvaart Politie Reglement (Inland Shipping Police Regulations). (including: always stay on right hand side on the water and give right of way to commercial ships).
3. The renter must ensure that neither the driver of the rental canoe nor the accompanying persons are under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics.
4. The renter must return the rental canoe in a tidy and clean shape to the lessor at the end of the rental period.

Deposit, damage and liability
1. The lessor ensures that the rental canoe is in good condition at the start of the rental period.
2. The renter (and his party) ride the canoe(s) at their own risk at all times.
3. The renter must report loss of and / or damage to the rental boat and / or to third parties immediately to the lessor by telephone (06-85118822).
4. In case of damage due to gross negligence, the full damage amount will be charged to the renter.
5. The lessor is not liable for physical injury and / or damage to private property of the tenant.
6. The renter is not permitted to have repairs carried out on the rented canoe without permission from the lessor.

Privacy Statement

Privacy Statement Kanoverhuur Den Haag (Canoe Rental The Hague) Kanoverhuur Den Haag processes and protects the personal data of our relations in accordance with the Dutch General Data Protection Regulation (AVG). We collect and store personal data for business communications and to comply with our contractual and legal obligations. This exclusively concerns data that our relations provide to us or that are available from public sources such as a relation's website or social media pages. Kanoverhuur Den Haag processes business data, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses in-house and manually for our customer address database. We will never pass these data on to third parties. Explanation Purpose of data storage

To establish a business relationship.
To execute an agreement. If we rent out canoes to you, we process personal data to be able to carry out this assignment.
In order to comply with the law, the data can be shared with an accountant, administration office, etc. or - if requested - with the tax authorities.
To faciliate business processes, relationship management and archiving.
For sending our newsletter.
Analytical and statistical data collected through our website or social media accounts can never be directly traced back to a person.

Duration of storage

Your personal data that is accessible via public sources such as websites and social media pagescan be stored by us for a longer period of time.
We will not keep documents for longer than is necessary for the performance of the assignment plus a period of 7 years thereafter (the minimum statutory term), unless we have to keep your data longer on the basis of a statutory regulation or agreement.
Your e-mails will not be kept longer than is necessary for the performance of the assignment plus a period of 7 years thereafter, unless we have to keep your data longer on the basis of a legal regulation or agreement.
For the purpose of the newsletter, your name and e-mail address will be stored for an indefinite period of time. The moment you unsubscribe, these data will be deleted.

Legal rights

You have at all times the right to request the data that we keep. You can do this by sending us an email or calling us. If we have established your identity, we will provide this information.
You have the right to have your data rectified. You can adjust the data for the newsletter via the appropriate URL at the bottom of each newsletter.
If you need your data (which are stored with us) for another party, you can request them.
If you no longer want us to keep your data, you have the right to have your data deleted.
Kanoverhuur Den haag will cooperate at all times to resolve a complaint regarding your privacy. If we cannot reach a solution together, you have the right to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
